I was 18 when I went to Patagonia for the first time and it completely blew me away. After travelling down through the mountainous landscape of southern Chile, I was awestruck by the expansive desolate plains of the Steppe heading north through Argentina.
The terrain was so featureless and bleak but here and there a wooden fence stretched out into the horizon, breaking the monotony and providing perspective. This fence led towards a small farmhouse standing alone in the perpetually howling wind like a little beacon of warmth and shelter.
‘The Steppe’ is painted in oil on canvas. It’s available to buy from my Etsy shop.
